IRS Extends Filing Deadline

The IRS has extended the filing deadline to April 18, allowing taxpayers an extra day to file and pay their taxes following technical difficulties with the agency's electronic filing and online payment systems, and both services are currently available. Earlier this morning, NAEA informed Members that the IRS was working on bringing the systems back on line, and that Acting IRS Commissioner David Kautter had indicated during today’s House hearing on IRS oversight that the Service planned to attempt a "hard reboot" of the agency's system.
