Description

This filing season update is specifically tailored for the California tax professional preparing federal and California returns. Changes during tax year 2020, both related to COVID-19 and not, will be discussed in-depth, along with ongoing guidance related to both the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the SECURE Act. The coverage of federal legislation, regulations, procedures, and rulings as well as 2020 California legislation is essential for the upcoming filing season.

Learning Objectives

1. To refresh the California tax professional on new, existing and extended federal tax law, while highlighting relevant state tax law in readiness for the 2021 filing season.
2. To update the tax professional on procedures and other items of interest affecting interaction with IRS and state tax agencies.
3. To contrast and compare important tax law affecting the preparation of accurate 2020 federal & California tax returns.
