CP59 Notices Sent Erroneously

Earlier this month, IRS issued CP59 notices to approximately 260,000 taxpayers stating they hadn’t filed their 2019 federal tax return. However, due to pandemic-related shutdowns, IRS has not yet completed processing all 2019 returns. The CP59 notices should not have been sent, because some recipients may have filed a return that is still being processed.

People who filed their 2019 return but who received the CP59 notice can disregard the letter and do not need to take to take any action. Read the complete IRS statement here.
